Two PhD positions and two Postdoctoral Fellow positions are available in the SOLID Lab at the University of British Columbia (UBC), under Prof. Yankai Cao:
- 1 PhD + 1 Postdoc – AI for Battery/Energy Storage: Research will focus on AI and machine learning for battery systems, including large-scale operational data analytics, degradation modelling, AI-enabled materials discovery, and optimization. The project involves collaboration with Invinity Energy Systems, with a focus on vanadium flow batteries.
- 1 PhD + 1 Postdoc – AI and Control for Robotics: Research will focus on developing AI, machine learning, optimization, and control methods for autonomous robotic systems, including drones and self-driving vehicles.
Candidates with backgrounds in process systems engineering, control, optimization, machine learning, robotics, chemical/electrical/mechanical/material engineering, or related areas are encouraged to apply.
